From Stabilization to Strategic Investment

West Virginia University enters FY2027 with momentum, responsibility, and a clear opportunity to move from stabilization to strategic investment. The budget is designed to keep WVU financially balanced, invest in priorities that matter most, and begin the next phase of deeper strategic work needed to strengthen the University for the future.

This is not simply a one-year budget exercise. The baseline operating budget of approximately $1.349 billion is an opportunity to align resources with the people, programs, infrastructure, and priorities that support our land-grant mission, determine the University's future competitiveness, and help move West Virginia forward.

$12M
Employee Compensation
$3M
Health Sciences and Workforce Needs
$1.4M
Enrollment and Student Recruitment Resources
$8M
Deferred Maintenance and Campus Infrastructure
$2.3M
Academic Excellence and Student Outcomes
$6M
Strategic Fund
