Paula Congelio
Paula Congelio is the current Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for West Virginia University. Paula reports directly to President Gordon E. Gee.
Paula graduated from Penn State University, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. She has a master’s degree in public administration from Carnegie Mellon University. Paula started her career with Deloitte and Touche LLC accounting firm in Pittsburgh, where she earned her CPA license.
Paula spent many years in the healthcare industry, working first for West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA and then at Uniontown Hospital in Uniontown, PA.
She then went on to work for Penn State University, the Eberly Campus as Financial Officer. In this role, Paula was responsible for finance, facilities, human resources, information technology, risk management, purchasing, security, and parking.
In 2012, Paula accepted a position with West Virginia University as the Senior Director of Finance and Reporting for the Health Sciences Center of WVU. In 2014, she was promoted to the Associate Vice President of Finance for the Health Sciences Center and in 2017 was promoted to the position that she now holds, Vice President of Finance/Chief Financial Officer for the West Virginia University. In this capacity, she is responsible for finance, budgeting, reporting and shared services for the University. Congelio also oversees Auxiliary and Business Services, Dining Services, Erickson Alumni Center and WVU Bookstores.
